Cagiallo

Cagiallo is a village and former municipality in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland.
It was first recorded in the 12th century as Guzallo.
The municipality also contained the villages Sarone, Almatro, Bettagno and San Matteo-Muralta. It had 265 inhabitants in 1574 and 233 in 1638. This increased to 288 in 1850, 298 in 1900, 315 in 1950, 510 in 1990 and 538 in 2000.
In 2001 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Lopagno, Roveredo, Sala Capriasca, Tesserete and Vaglio to form a new and larger municipality Capriasca.
