User talk:Cafe Nervosa
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cafe: Wikipedia etiquette requires you to post comments on a user's talk page, not on their main page. You should also sign your comments using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. I recognize that MichaelM can be difficult, especially when it comes to Belinda Stronach, but that is not a justification for editing his user page. Leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Thanks. Ground Zero | t 22:28, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip. Cafe Nervosa 22:40, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
- No problem. Ground Zero | t 00:33, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
Ever run into SimonP? The guy is literally everywhere on Wikipedia and if you edit anything that deviates away from his "Canadian Socialist Heritage" POV he will start an edit war. rasblue 01:45, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- I'm sort of new at wiki and not interested in edit wars. Belinda is a hometown topic for me and I'm not involved in much politcally.Cafe Nervosa 17:38, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Is it ok to remove this part of it "but subsequently stated that she's against its decriminalization" because its pass tents however I should not of removed the cannibis part of it. I was wrong by removeing it from the page. Michaelm
It would be really nice if you could upload pictures to commons http://commons.wikimedia.org/ instead just to the english wikipedia, this way they can be used by any wikipedia project the same way you use local pictures. Thank you :) -- 207.236.6.35 10:15, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
Just wanetd to thank you for adding the succession box to Hans Ulrich Klintzsch, these are invaluable tools that really improve articles - and I thought I'd drop you a random thanks for making sure articles had them :) Sherurcij 07:05, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Image:Beer Mug.png redirect
Hi Cafe Nervosa. While I think the redirect you created is an interesting effect, I don't think it should stay there. There are two reasons: 1) It prevents you from getting to the image information page using any sort of normal navigation, and 2) There is no way to tell before clicking on the link that it goes to Wikipedia:WikiProject Beer. I would change it back. Mike Dillon 00:16, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
- How about putting a note on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Beer? I'm not sure how many people will see the discussion at Image talk:Beer Mug.png or notice the changes to {{Beer}}. Mike Dillon 22:38, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
- Done. See talk:WikiProject Beer. Cafe Nervosa | talk 22:49, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
Redirect removed. Cafe Nervosa | talk 21:35, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Lacrosse
The situation on Lacrosse doesn't seem to be bad enough to warrant a page protection. I've issued a warning to 24.218.158.186. The other vandals also haven't been warned recently. You seem to be handling the situation well; if they continue vandalizing after you have issued them a warning, please let me know. Owen× ☎ 17:41, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:Flag of Bonaire.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. |

[edit] Allen Road
Hi. Please review Wikipedia policy concerning article moves. You should never simply cut and paste the text from the one namespace and place it in the new namespace, because it eliminates the article's history. I've reverted your changes. Darkcore 02:49, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- I now propose to move the article as I had done. Sorry about eliminating the history. Cafe Nervosa 19:02, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
- Your recent comment in the Allen Road article is unrelated to that topic, and should have been directed at my talk instead of in the article's talk page. Also, I don't need you to tell me what I should and should not be working on here. Darkcore 18:58, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- I apoligize if my comment was in the wrong place. I'm not telling you what to do, just stating my opinon. FYI I am asking for consense on naming streets and roads at naming conventions (places). Cafe Nervosa | talk 19:42, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
-
- I don't think I "over did it" as you say, and if you read the comments I wrote in my talk page explaining my reasoning, I think you would see why. I do not agree with using "official names" (that hardly anyone ever uses) to describe roads when there is a clear consensus on how these roads are described. No one calls Allen Road "William R. Allen Road" or even "W. R. Allen Road" - everyone calls it Allen Road or The Allen. The same goes for Ontario highways. No one says "Ontario provincial highway XX" even at MTO - the common usage is "Highway XX". Darkcore 20:35, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image:FinaldailyPeanuts.jpg
I reverted your edit. I believe that (Comicpanel}}) applies only to single panels within a comic book, not a newspaper. Cafe Nervosa | talk 22:32, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- Well, the panel has by all probability been released in compilation form, so the tag would apply. Even if that was not the case, I think that is a technicality which should not disqualify use of the tag. Finally, "no source" IMO not the appropriate tag as we know the source, namely Charles M. Schulz. Thue | talk 22:41, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Commons
Hi Cafe Nervosa. Thanks for adding lots of pics to Wikipedia. I also don't mind if you remove some of my pics from articles (e.g. Tsukiji fish market). On another topic: Are you familiar with the Wikimedia Commons? If you upload your free images there, they can be linked to from any Wikipedia/Wikimedia project. I have all of my pics at the commons now (e.g. Image:Fugu.Tsukiji.CR.jpg, see the link underneath of the pic, part of the commons:Category:Tsukiji). You would need a login (e.g. commons:User:Cafe Nervosa) to upload pics, but I think it is much more convenient for other Wikipedia Projects, and all of our free media should be organized there. Best wishes, and let me know if you have any questions. -- Chris 73 | Talk 09:28, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- As this is the second request, I will do as suggested and upload new images to the commons. I have a commons account :http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Cafe_Nervosa. Should I upoad my existing images to the Commons? Cafe Nervosa | talk 00:30, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, if you could upload your images to the commons, this would be great. They can be linked to in Wikipedia like any other image. If possible, the images should also be added to categories and/or image pages on the commons, so they are found if someone is looking for them. Thanks -- Chris 73 | Talk 11:06, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] "Heroin Heights"
I realised that the edit might be controversial. However, I felt that it was worth knowing. The article for Agincourt, Ontario includes the "Asiancourt" nickname, Marks and Spencer refers to "Marks and Sparks", and so I felt that, providing the use of NPOV language, there was precendent for including even a derisive nickname. [edit] Web-screenshot tag
Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I've noticed you've uploaded some images tagged with {{web-screenshot}}. This tag is not meant to be used for images that came from Web pages; it's meant to be used for images of Web pages (such as Image:Google screenshot.png, for example). I've retagged the images below as having no license information. Please make sure that Wikipedia has permission to use these images. Then edit the image description pages to include information about the licenses these images are under. You may find an appropriate tag at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags or Wikipedia:Template messages, or if none of these fit you may write a description of the license yourself. You may want to refer to the image use policy. If the use of this image on Wikipedia is a copyright violation, please follow the steps at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion to nominate this image to be deleted. If you have any questions, please feel free to post a message on my talk page. —Bkell 07:05, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Images on your userpage
Hi, I happened to notice that you have a number of "fair use images" on your user page. Wikipedia policy doesn't allow such images to be used on user pages (see Wikipedia:Fair use#Fair use policy), so please remove them ASAP. Thanks. If you want to list your contributions it's ok to list links to the images, and any free licensed images can still be used as you see fit. --Sherool (talk) 19:37, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Jenga.JPG
I am not sure Image:Jenga.JPG is sourced good enough to stand the test of time. Are you Derek Mawhinney, the photographer? If so, can you make that clearer on the image description page? If not, how did you get permission to license as Creative Commons? I like the image and I'd hate to see someone delete it because of misinterpreting the sourcing. [edit] Untagged image
An image you uploaded, Image:East Gwillimbury Seal.gif, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 14:36, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Duplicate Image:5th Bomb Wing Crest.png
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:5th Bomb Wing Crest.png, by Pmsyyz, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:5th Bomb Wing Crest.png is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:5th Bomb Wing Crest.png, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:5th Bomb Wing Crest.png itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 05:01, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Highclass in borrowed shoes.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Highclass in borrowed shoes.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:28, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Belinda Stronach
I am glad to help keep Michaelm in line. I see that he managed to sneak in his long-standing and outrageous claim that she is a social democrat, and that it stayed in the article for quite a while. We will have to keep an eye on that, too. Regards, Ground Zero | t 02:42, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Belinda Stronach editing
The one that remove was this user (24.150.21.178) I don't now him/her back on Nov 14. 2006 It was not me that remove it back then. If I notes I would of put it back in. However I should not of go as far as remove it recenty. sorry. The reson I was angery the fact this part was added "but subsequently stated that she's against its decriminalization" but I went to far. Can you please leave this part out "but subsequently stated that she's against its decriminalization" The reason it may not be vald. Reporters don't always tell the turth. Besides if thay wont to know bad enuth then thay can clack on the link. hear is the proof [1]. Specking about this part "While she has sat as both a Liberal and a Conservative, Ms.Stronach's personal political views lean social democratic in nature. In fact Belinda Stronach is best classified as a Social Democrat." I did not add that it was user Frelancedave and I don't know him what info he added was also not vald. Hear is the proof on that as well [2]. I may agree with Frelancedave but that dous not make it vald info. Michaelm
[edit] Universities in Canada
I re-directed this article to AUCC, since none of it was cited, and there was a neutrality dispute. I'm open to having it as a stand-alone article, but right now I don't see any merit in the article as it was. GreenJoe 20:15, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:TylerStewart_Drummer.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:TylerStewart_Drummer.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 13:18, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Peanuts Baseball.png
Thank you for uploading Image:Peanuts Baseball.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:20, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Scorpions Backout.png
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Scorpions Backout.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Steve Baurer-promo.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Steve Baurer-promo.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bláthnaid 18:01, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Aberfan Disaster.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Aberfan Disaster.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
