Café con leche from Asturias, Spain
Café con leche is a coffee-based beverage, which translated from Spanish, literally means "coffee with milk". Similar to the French café au lait and the Italian caffè e latte, café con leche is a Spanish coffee beverage consisting of strong or bold coffee (sometimes espresso) mixed with scalded milk in anywhere from a 1:1 to 2:1 ratio. It is also served with sugar mixed according to taste. The beverage is extremely common in Spain and in many Latin American countries and communities around the world. In the Cuban bastions of Tampa, Florida and Miami, Florida, for example, café con leche is a local breakfast staple.[1]
