Cum adseveres Latinam esse tibi linguam patriam, quin Vicipaediae Latinae contribuas?

[edit] Jugurtha

Why did you put a copyright warning on the page?--Panairjdde 14:35, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Because it's text which is ported directly from another source, as I indicated (from Answers.com, I think). Verbatim.--CaesarGJ 18:02, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
It is Answer.com that includes the text of Wikipedia, not the opposite. Furthermore you did not use correctly the template.--Panairjdde 18:36, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Augur.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Augur.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 14:07, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Alba_Fucens.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Alba_Fucens.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Ancient Greek Wikisource

I understand from your userboxes you're interested in Ancient Greek. I've submitted a proposal to add an Ancient Greek Wikisource on Meta, and I'd be very grateful if you could assist me by either voting in Support of the proposal, or even adding your name as one of the contributors in the template. (NB: I'm posting this to a lot of people, so please reply to my talkpage or to Meta) --Nema Fakei 20:14, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Latin Wikiquote (Vicicitatio)

Hello! I see you have tagged yourelf with a {{la-4}} template. Would you like to help us by translating into latin any of the official polices or help pages of Wikipedia? —Argentino (talk/cont.) 20:24, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hmm...

Given that you're 1) a Hoosier, 2) a Classicist, and 3) fond of beer, I'm going to guess that we've met in "real life". The fact that you're from Wisconsin, love Star Wars and Star Trek, and like the Simpsons makes me think that I've actually been inside your house. (Wow, how's that for creepy!) If you have no idea who I am, I'm sorry to have disturbed you. Cheers! -- Merope 22:13, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank You

[edit] License tagging for Image:Gunmen of the Apocalypse (Red Dwarf).jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Gunmen of the Apocalypse (Red Dwarf).jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 11:05, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Emohawk-_Polymorph_II_(Red_Dwarf).jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Emohawk-_Polymorph_II_(Red_Dwarf).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Greek to me

Greetings. I just wrote the page Greek to me. I am comparing similar expressions in other languages. I was wondering if you would be able to add the expression in any languages with which you are comfortable. Btw, I just found your page/profile by running a search for users who have a level 4/level 5 ability in non-English languages. Thanks much! samwaltz 04:22, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Psirens (Red Dwarf).jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Psirens (Red Dwarf).jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:48, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] help?

Hi there.

Due to reasons unbeknownst to myself, a friend wants the Rousseau quote "Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains." tattooed on himself in Latin. Yes, I know, anyone else would get it in the original French, and anyone in the know will be baffled by his bizarre choice. However, to each their own- and I have been enlisted to find out what it is in Latin. Would you be able to assist?

Thanks, sars 16:31, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wexford Carol

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Wexford Carol, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/celticwoman/thewexfordcarol.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 01:25, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Out of Time (Red Dwarf).jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Out of Time (Red Dwarf).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:15, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
