Caecilia was the daughter Prince II of Paros, who ruled 1520-1531, and became pretender to the throne upon his death in 1531. Her rights where acknowledged in 1536 when she was confirmed as the ruling Princess Regnant of Paros and ascended the throne. She ruled jointly with her husband, Bernado Sagredo (d.1603). In 1537, the state of Paros was conquered by and incorporated in the Ottoman Empire, during which the future Valide Sultan Nurbanu was captured on the Island and taken to the harem. Caecilia was deposed and died six years later.
