Caddo Parish Middle Magnet School, known as Caddo Middle Magnet (CMM), is a performing arts magnet school in Shreveport, Louisiana. In the 2006-2007 school year it was the number one ranked middle school in Louisiana. It is currently a four star school. Caddo Middle Magnet is located in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was opened in the fall of 1982, and enrolls students in grades six through eight. Today, it holds approximately 1340 students from Caddo Parish. This is a wonderful school, filled with knowledge and fufillment.

[edit] Extracurricular Activities
Caddo Middle Magnet has three school journalism classes. Its yearbook is called the Equestrian. It is published annually. The school newspaper is called Mane Line which is published monthly. The website for the Mane Line is www.themaneline.com. The third jounalism class is a school news show called KCMM which is shown twice a month.
CMM has many sports. The football team was undefeated for many years and remains strong today. The lacrosse team has had many undefeated seasons. The Middle Magnet boys basketball team has had many victories as the girls have. The school has a cheerleading squad, a danceline, a pep squad, multiple choirs and bands, and three orchestras. The three string orchestras are arranged according to skill and have won many awards statewide, nationally, and internationally. In 2004 the advanced orchestra performed in the Sydney Opera House in Australia.

CMM has many school dances held after school on Wednesdays. The dances include Back to School, Christmas, Halloween, End of School, Valentines, and Sadie Hawkins.
Oktoberfest is a festival usually held on the second Wednesday in October. Every student at CMM attends. All booths are managed by the two foreign language classes. There are free games that include catch the crepe, a dunking booth, and American football toss. Each class usually performs two songs in their language, French or Spanish. There is a large food selection which has French fries, sausage on a stick, turkey legs, nachos, and strawberry crepes.There are also craft activities such as yarn bugs and pennants.
Each grade also has its own festival. Renaissance Faire is strictly for sixth graders . During the Renaissance fair, fencers from Caddo Magnet High come to CMM to demonstrate fencing for the 6th graders. Colonial Days is for 7th graders. During Colonial Days students may participate in colonial dancing, crafts, and archery among other things. 50's Day is also for 7th graders. 7th graders dress up as if they were in the 50's. They have food and drinks. They also have contests such as a hula hoop, twisting, and limbo. Mardi Gras is for 8th graders and allows them to dress in Mardi Gras costumes and participate in a dance during the last periods of school. Each eighth grader chooses a Mardi Gras Krewe to research and then designs a float and a costume that would be worn on that float in the parade.
