Talk:Cable (comics)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There is a serious issue with this sentence:
Cable was born Christopher Charles Summers, the child of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyne Pryor (Madelyne Pryor was later revealed to be a clone of Jean Grey, created by Mister Sinister for the express purpose of mating her with Scott to create Cable. It was she who dubbed him "Nathan," in order to taunt Scott by reminding him of a childhood bully, as she prepared to sacrifice him before the X-Men and X-Factor saved him).
Isn't the left side of Cable's body composed of cybernetic material and doesn't he possess some superhuman physical capabilities as a result? I recall, during the Fatal Attractions crossover event that occurred 1993, Magneto had used his powers on Cable that resulted in the left half of his body essentially being transformed into heaps of broken metallic components.
[edit] Cable's Age
If Cable were never infected with Apocalypse's T.O. virus and wasn't sent to the future to be saved, how old would he be?
Rahne was about 14 or 15 when Nathan was born, now she's 19, so I'd say he'd be four or five years old, but this is just a guess.
[edit] Ultimate Cable
Umm, there is nothing to suggest Cable is wolverine. "wolverine versus himself" can just refer to the fact that Cable has claws, not that it is Wolverine. Otherwise, why would he state "without healing factor?" Wolverine has and always will have healing factor, so to whoever posted that theory, it doesn't add up, so I'm removing it. Besides it's far more likely that Cable is the result of Wolverine and Jean rather than an aged de-powered wolverine. Tinibash 22:08, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, looks as if you've been proven wrong given the events unfolding in Ultimate X-Men #76. 4.225.11.206 02:59, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
I think that Ultimate Cable is a clone of Wolverine, not his future self. Sabretooth did take a piece of Wolverine's flesh to Doctor Cornelius, who stated: "We will make our own Wolverine." Also, this solves both the healing factor problem and the problem of interacting with your past self, as the factor could be hard or impossible to sustain in a clone and it would not be a case of interacting with your past self, as it was'nt you. --Hunter Peterson
[edit] Bibliography
Needs one. Nothing too snazzy, just a list of series. --Jamdav86 13:55 October 2006 (UTC)
- I started one, but it's not complete, and apparently there were some gaps where he wasn't really in X-Force, but I'm not really familiar with that era. Brad T. Cordeiro 21:03, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- As it been made, I have expanded it. I put his appearances in X-Force for 1-70 where he officialy leaves the team, even though there are issues/short periods before that where he doesn't appear/isn't a member and some later appearances where he does, but from what I understand we want more a general list. Dizzy D 22:32, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- There should be a mention that during the 90s, he guest stars in many comics to boost sales, particularly Marvel UK books. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 14:57, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
That should go in the currently non-existent Publication history section. Care to kick it off?--Jamdav86 18:03, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Power and Abilities
I almost want to put this under character biography, N E 1 else? Toodiesel 15:15, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] His Son
i was curious as to why there is no mention of his son Tyler Dayspring or Genesis as apparently wikipedia doesn't redirect 'Tyler Dayspring' to the already existing Genesis article. i was just curious Stellrmn 09:21, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't know, but it is odd there's no mention of his son. He just mentioned the fact that he had to kill his son in the future (his past) in C&D #40. Maybe I'll write something and use that reference, though I don't know what happened in regards to him killing his son. Wilhelm Screamer 09:24, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Cable23.jpg
Image:Cable23.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Took out Crystal Ball/Original Research
"He and/or his father are speculated to play a major role in the coming Mutant Messiah event. Cable is 'dead' in current respective X-men storylines.[citation needed]."
Speculation does not belong in Wikipedia articles. Not to mention that Cable isn't one of several names Marvel has said will appear and impact the storyline. Also, Cable is believed to be dead, but there is no irrefutable proof within the comics that he actually is. The above paragraph, stating he possibly killed himself when causing the accident, is good enough. 76.214.167.226 22:06, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ultimate Cable/Adamantium Poisoning
Where in the Ultimate Marvel Universe has it been stated that the Adamantium on Wolverine's skeleton should poison him? As far as I know this is only true in earth-616. ilovemrdoe 09:07, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disambiguation?
Why the disam? Since the article is Cable (comics), surely that is specific enough?

- Googling for Nathan Summers brings this page as the number one hit, and you'll note that Nathan Summers is in fact a redirect to this article. However, it is also the name of one of the 15 Royal Navy personnel seized by Iranian military earlier this year. Therefore it is not unreasonable to include a link to the article detailing that particular event. So there is a purpose to the madness :-) --Pekaje 11:21, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Magog
Is it worth mentioning DC's Magog, who was designed as a satire of ultra-violent 90's superheroes, and Cable in particular, as seen from their very similar character designs? Kelvingreen 15:22, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Civil War Speculation
"It is presumed that Cable was aware of the death of Captain America and this may be the reason that he exits from the Civil War. He has been wearing a Captain America shield or emblem on his right shoulder[18]. This is similar to his first stint as an X-Man, when Cyclops died; Cable, at that time, wore Cyclops’ visor around his neck. Cable’s pleading with Captain America before Civil War could be interpreted as him futilely trying to prevent an "inevitable future"."
This entire paragraph is speculation with no evidence for it in the comic. In addition the Captain America patch appeared before civil war. It would be more logical to assume he put it there after his meeting with Captain America. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.24.140.173 (talk) 00:56, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
