[edit] Purpose of this article
I created this article in order to share information on the Cabeza de Baca Family. It is not meant to be a complete genealogy of this family; rather it is an introduction. For those people who are interested in discovering their own family tree, I suggest that they contact their local genealogy society. For those researching their Cabeza de Baca lineage, I have found that the New Mexico Genealogy Society and the Hispanic Genealogy Research Center of New Mexico are good resources.
[edit] Work Page
I have created a Work Page for this article. I will do revisions there before posting them on the article page.

[edit] Removed "Genealogy" category
I removed the "Genealogy" category from the page because a family name page is better suited for the subcategories "families" and "surnames." "Genealogy" is too general. Abqbobcat 15:30, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Two Guadalupes?
In my research of the descendants of Santiago Mariano Trujillo and Guadalupe Baca, it appears that Fray Angelico Chavez was in error when he listed their marriage date as Sept. 20, 1785. The Archdiocese of Santa Fe record AASF Roll 29, Frame 1292 indicates the year was 1805. Santiago would have been only nine years old in 1785 (Baptism Ref. HGRC - Isleta Baptisms 1730-1956, Frame 375). This error has perpetuated the myth of the two Guadalupes, the elder with no baptism record and the younger with no marriage record who is explained away as having died young. The most likely scenario is that Guadalupe was born in 1791 and married at age fourteen to a twenty year old Santiago. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Aycarrumba (talk • contribs) 04:38, 10 May 2007 (UTC).
