Cabral "Cabbie" Richards, (born June 19, 1977 in Toronto) is a personality on The Score Television Network, a Canadian sports cable television network, and Hardcore Sports Radio, a channel on Sirius Satellite Radio.
Originally an intern at The Score, Richards hosted five-minute segments called Cabbie on the Street from 2001-02 and again since 2005. The segments generally consist of Richards surprising sports figures with unorthodox questions. For example, at one of National Basketball Association commissioner David Stern's press conferences, Richards asked if Stern always wins his pool. In another segment, he was ejected from the Toronto Raptors' locker room after teaching the famously stoic Chris Bosh a "secret handshake" that ended with Richards bear-hugging the unamused basketball player. New segments of Cabbie on the Street run during the 10 p.m. ET edition of The Score Tonight on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
In between stints at The Score, Richards worked on Rogers Sportsnet's NBAXL and JZone shows.
In 2006, The Score launched a weekly, 30-minute version of Cabbie on the Street called Cabbie Unlimited. Cabbie Unlimited airs at 6:30 ET on Sundays.
In December 2007, the network aired the first episode of Cabbie All-Stars, an interview show in front of a live audience. The Score has scheduled six episodes of the interview show.
Cabbie takes a relaxed approach to interviewing, often poking fun at himself to make the guest open up. He once stated that he frequently touches people during interviews because it is a disarming mechanism. He has interviewed many well-known athletes, including Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Vernon Wells, Charles Barkley, Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, Damon Allen, Jarome Iginla, and Mario Lemieux.
He was also featured in Talib Kweli's 2005 music video for the song "Never Been In Love". Cabbie plays a music producer in the video. He can also be seen as an actor in the 2000 music video "Money Jane" by Baby Blue Soundcrew.
