The CA M24 SOCOM is a type of airsoft rifle. Both the Military and Civilian versions of this gun are cosmetically modelled on the U.S. Army's M24 Sniper Weapon System. They are both spring powered, bolt action rifles, although they may be modified to operate by gas.
In stock form, these rifles have a muzzle velocity comparable to most other stock AEG's and spring weapons, and as such do not provide a viable sniping platform without being upgraded to higher muzzle energies. Many players upgrade to a point where the rifle will fire a 0.20g bb at around 500 feet/second; this is dependent on any given country's laws regarding air weapons/replica firearms. They are also usually equipped with a telescopic sight for long-range combat.
