Master-corpral is an appointment and not a rank in the Canadian forces (Though this has very little effect on the overall chain of command, with the master-corpral falling between Sergeant and Corpral).

Abbreviated as "Mcpl", it is generall awarded after the completion of at least 4 years of service, combined with the completion of BMQ (Basic military Qualification), QL3 (Apprentice level qualification), QL4, QL5 (Journeyman level qualification) and PLQ (Primary Leadership qualification).
