As a former Royal Australian Air Force Flight Engineer I am disappointed that the fact that Australia was the first non United States operator of the Hercules is not mentioned in the C130 Hercules article. The RAAF first acquired C130A Hercules in 1958 with 12 examples being bought. These were augmented with 12 C130E models in 1966. The C130A aircraft were replaced by the C130H during 1978. The C130E aircraft were replaced by the C130J-30 a few years ago. The C130 continues to play a major role in the RAAF and will do for many years to come. What is significant is that the RAAF will celebrate 50 years of continuous C130 operations next year. Having operated the "A", "E" and "H" models I was also disappointed to find the F/E had been replaced by computers, as is the 'norm' in all modern aircraft. RAAFHerkman 02:52, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
