Cóndor is a weekly newspaper in German language that is edited in Santiago de Chile, for members of the German resident community. His publishing line is pluralist with accent in German matters.

CONDOR appears every Friday and is located between the most ancient Chilean newspapers. Of size tabloid, the CONDOR publishes reports, cultural and economic articles, Chilean, German and European news, as well as you interview. With six thousand weekly copies, the Condor sells in the whole Chile and also in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the USA and some Latin-American countries.

One of the most ancient newspapers of the country has a peculiarity: it is published in German language. The weekly CONDOR, which on June 15, 1998 fulfilled 60 years of uninterrupted publication. In format tabloid and with a normal extension of 16 pages, the CONDOR re-carries diverse ambiences of the national life with a perspective that moves away from the traditional means. From the appearance of the first newspaper in German language in 1870 under the name of Deutsche Nachrichten of Valparaiso, in Chile about 25 newspapers have existed in this language, published in diverse places of Chile. The CONDOR was the result of the merger of three publications that existed about 1938.

From this date the newspaper has suffered diverse changes: His first edition was provided with 72 pages in size magazine and was appearing every two weeks, then, from 1951 appears in standard size, two times a week on Wednesday and Saturdays, but only with twelve pages. At present the CONDOR has 16 pages in size tabloid with 50 % of them in color. A directory that there assembles diverse Chilean - German institutions, like the League Chilean - German or the German School they shape the proprietary directory of the newspaper. With the intention of modernizing it in all his areas, the CONDOR was re-thrown in August, 1995, with the help of German journalists. With a new logo and a modern layout, the newspaper appears with a new face.

Out of what should be thought, the CONDOR publishes principally Chilean topics, especially those relative to the community Chilean - German or to topics not treated by the traditional means of communication. It is a question of readership who speak as minimum two or three languages and who read at least a newspaper every day, therefore the reports, the interviews or the articles of the national area are of considerable depth and critical analysis. On his pages there are sections of Chilean, German and European news, of reportages, of economy, of culture, of history and of interviews, between others. There write for the CONDOR out-standing collaborators as the critics of art and musician Pedro Labowitz and Daniel Quiroga, or the economic journalist Iván Witker.
