César Charlone (born in 1958) is a cinematographer who was born in Montevideo, Uruguay but currently lives in Brazil. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work in the highly acclaimed Brazilian film City of God (2002). He has recently directed his first film, The Pope's Toilet (2007), which was selected by Uruguay as its official submission for the 80th Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.[1] He was invited in 2006 to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.[2]
