Talk:BYU Television International
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am just uploading the Information I already have, and I intend to go back and edit it as soon as I am done with the information I currently have.Mhamilton624 19:08, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- You need to provide references to show notability. See WP:NOTE, as this article doesn't seem terribly notable. Dan 19:11, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
If you all would like to take a look at it again, I have made satisfactory changes, and believe it now accomplishes what I intended it to. I am a first-time Wikipedia Article writer, and I am new to the system. This really is not meant to advertise, but to be a resource for people. Take a look at the page for BYU Television...that is what I am trying to copy, since they are our sister station.
Any advice?
The article on advertising says: "When an article on an otherwise encyclopedic topic has the tone of an advertisement, the article can often be salvaged by rewriting it in a neutral point of view." Which I feel I have done. In fact, it wasn't meant to be an advertisement in the first place.Mhamilton624 22:04, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- It still doesn't have any independent sources. -FisherQueen (Talk) 21:50, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Do the references I now have count? What can I do to get the boxes off the top that say this isn't a legit article? Mhamilton624 22:04, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- BYU and the LDS church are not independent sources. --Finngall talk 22:09, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Has any source that is not one of the owners of this station ever written about its importance? Newspaper articles? Magazine articles? TV Guide? -FisherQueen (Talk) 22:13, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Recent edits
I have reverted all recent changes for BYU Television International. At Wikipedia, we have rules and regulations regarding neutrality (see WP:NPOV), copyright (see WP:COPY) and style (see WP:MS); unfortunately, these edits have violated these rules. All editors are expected to follow these rules. -- azumanga 01:18, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- One thing I like to add is that a great deal of these edits came from BYU. It should be known that companies and people writing articles about themselves is considered "vanity", and is generally frowned upon here, and there were persistant violators from that group that were blocked. So please follow the rules, and remain impartial, non-biased, and non-PR in your edits. -- azumanga 19:10, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
