[edit] Welcome

Hi Byron. Welcome to Wikipedia. If you haven't already do so, you may like to take some time to check out the Welcome page. It has many useful links to make your editing a more pleasant experience. In particular you should at some points familiarise yourself with the sections under the heading Wikipedia Behaviour, as well as the What Wikipedia is not, Policies and guidelines for contributors and Manual of Style pages.

Be sure to check out Australian resources, like The Australia Wikiportal, Australian Wikipedians' Notice Board, Australian Collaboration of the Fortnight, New Australian Articles and Canberra stub articles.

You can list yourself at Wikipedians in the ACT.

In terms of Canberra articles, you can check out the various headings and blue wikilinks under the Tasks heading on the Canberra WikiProject page, such as the Education link. There are lots of Canberra related stub articles that you can contribute to. The best thing to do is to go for a bowse through some of the categories and see what interests you. For example check out Category:Australian Capital Territory stubs, or Category:Canberra Category:Education in the Australian Capital Territory.

Hope these tips help. Once again, Welcome, and happy editing. -- Adz|talk 13:15, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Math question

Hi, I read you math question, and have a comment. I'm no mathematicion, so this is a layman's observation only.

You state: 1^\frac{1}{2} = i^2

However, it seems to me that you must consider that 1^\frac{1}{2} has two values, 1 and -1.

Therefore the equality would be \pm 1 = 1

[edit] a hand - copy violations

Hi. I actually haven't dealt with very many copy violations in the past, so if you have read about them recently, you may know more about it than I do. what you should probably do is to stick a copyvio tag up from the maintenance tage. This will probably mean that somebody at some point will come along and delete the offending text. You could also rewrite the offending text by finding other sources and using your own words. That would also fix the problem. You could ask an admin for help. Because I keep an eye on the Australian wikipedians notice board I usually seek help from Australian admins such as User:Cyberjunkie (who is sick at the moment) or User:Petaholmes, among others. You might also like to post a message at Wikipedia:WikiProject Music/Noticeboard to see if anybody could give you a hand cleaning the article up. Sorry I haven't been more helpful. -- Adz|talk 08:37, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Odo Hirsch

Hi, I see you were thinking of creating the Odo Hirsch page. I too had this in mind - I was wondering what your plans were; maybe we both could put together a good page? 97198 talkcontribs 09:37, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
