Byram Green

Byram Green (April 15, 1786 - October 18, 1865) was a United States Representative from New York. Born in East Windsor, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, he attended the public schools and was graduated from Williams College in 1808. He was a professor in a college at Beaufort, South Carolina in 1810, studied law, was admitted to the bar, and practiced. He was judge of the circuit court of Wayne County in 1814, and fought in the Battle of Sodus Point during the War of 1812. He was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1816 to 1822 and served in the New York State Senate in 1823 and 1824.
Green was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-eighth Congress, holding office from March 4, 1843 to March 3, 1845. He died in Sodus, New York in 1865; interment was in the Rural Cemetery.
