Bypass (computing)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Bypass filter is a website/program used to go into certain websites when you are restricted from it. These filters are often used in schools and public places where strict filters are in use. Most of the time, these filters are kept a secret within the users' knowladge. Filters like this include Media:http://www.knowmymath.comMedia:Example.ogg the phrase "know my math" is used because school computers promote and allow websites containing words such as "math". Bypass filters are very often used in schools, to play games or go on other websites the school has blocked. The filters works so when you go on to the website, you have a box at the very bottom of the screen. There, you type in the website you want to visit. It then takes you to the website, but the site is slitghtly different than it usually is. There is typically a bar at the top of the page, saying the website name (ex: "knowmymath"), so it is technacly not the same website, so the filter itself does not block it.
