[edit] Series 18

Its airing now on the CBBC channel on Saturday and Sunday afternoons it will be shown on BBC 1 next year.

  • Can you provide a reference (e.g. webpage) which says that it'll be repeated on BBC1 in 2007?
    • June, still no repeat on BBC1 or BBC2. Highly unusual, even if production has finished for good! Digifiend 12:39, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
      • When is it on in June - still can't see it listed? Is this the CBBC Channel again?

[edit] Two episodes missed - has anyone got them on video?

I missed episode 9 (broadcast 2006-Nov-04) and episode 15 (broadcast 2006-Nov-25). Has anyone got these on video? Will pay £10 if you can send me them. Leave a message with your username and I'll contact you!

byker grove A place for tears, happyness, love and revenge it exsiting and realistice to whach

"children aged 11-16" I thought it followed a lot of the characters until they were about 18. anon

Yeah, it does, so does Grange Hill. Digifiend 13:49, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Charley

Can someone include Charley's inclusion of the show plus her fabtastic song The Real Thing.ZlatkoT 05:26, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Just a note to say: Technically, Byker is in Gateshead, not Newcastle (It's south of the River Tyne.)

Excuse me, but this is rubbish. Byker is North of the Tyne just to the east of Newcastle City Centre - A local resident.

It certainly is, I live there! Bensham is in Gateshead - that's pretty much the only 'B-' area I can think of!

[edit] Name of rival club members

'The rival youth club members were known as the "Denwell Burners".'
I'm pretty sure they were called the "Denton Burners".

[edit] Denwell Burn

I've changed the Denwell Burn bit, my understanding is that they weren't ever known as the Denton Burners, always as Denwell Burn. Some shots of Denwell Burn (filmed in Raby Street Youth Club in the real Byker) had 'DENWELL BURN' on the sides of the gymnasium. I think that they didn't want to name it after the area, because in some storylines the Denwell Burners weren't portrayed as very nice! However, feel free to contribute! I have a very distinct memory of the older episodes definitely referring to the rivals as Denton Burn, Denton Burners and not knowing much about Newcastle and its geography this knowledge of the name can only come from the series, and I had never heard the name Denwell Burn before! I do admit I haven't seen it in years and they may very well have changed this naming at some point, but it was definitely originally Denton Burn! CartmanUK26 11:09, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Cool cool - no probs. Must admit, being from Newcastle, I've always known about Denton Burn... :) Anyway, being linked with the production of Byker Grove myself, the later series definately had the rivals as Denwell Burn. I'll change the main article accordingly! BNC85 17:51, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

I've changed the Rival Youth Clubs section.--Darrelljon 11:37, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
