BYD Company Limited (SEHK: 1211) is a privately-owned company headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, which is engaged in the manufacture and marketing of rechargeable batteries, handset components and automobile products.[1] It is currently the second largest mobile phone rechargeable battery producer in the world.[2]
In 2002, its H shares were listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
In 2007, Foxconn, BYD's main competitor, sued BYD for receiving its confidential information from its former employees who changed to work in BYD, which caused big losses for Foxconn.[3]
