Talk:Bwindi gorilla

This is a population, not a subspecies, so there is no scientific name for them ther than that of the Mountain Gorilla (G. beringei), despite the USC link. (G. g. beringei would be incorrect anyway.) - UtherSRG (talk) 01:15, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- I think a good criteria for a species name is that you should be able to make a taxobox, if not, it is not a species name, and in this case, is a popular name used for a population. As soon as the formal description is made, it can be changed back. KimvdLinde 00:34, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
There are multiple places in Africa where gorillas and chimps exist together, including most of the range of eastern lowland gorillas so what is actually notable is that Virunga gorillas live without chimps, NOT that Bwindi gorillas live with them.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.137.197.18 (talk • contribs) 10:45, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
