[edit] Really?

I nearly deleted this as nonsense. Please tell us how Bwgcolman is pronounced and the origin of the name. Somehow I don't think it is from an aboriginal language! -- RHaworth 11:30, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi RHaworth, thanks for the enquiry (and not just blindly deleting the article). As a Townsville local I can absolutely confirm that Palm Islanders identify themselves as the Bwgcolman people, additionally they are one of the two peoples who are acknowledged as the traditional owners in official speeches (where appropriate). And I thought the whole idea of articles being Wiki-developed up from stubs was for things like how it is pronounced and its origins being added over time. Yes of course that is the idea. Did I say anything about how soon I wanted the answers or that the answers were critical to prevent me nominating the article for deletion? -- RHaworth 11:55, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

My apologies for misinterpreting you and/or offending you with my reply. WikiTownsvillian 12:10, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Oh dear, you have got me on the defensive now because I am hesitant to say anything that might be taken amiss. But I will say: be bold - the link in the article looks respectable and used the term - there was no need to be defensive. And "stop speculating start Googling" - the very first hit I followed came up with this explanation of pronunciation and origin - is it correct? (I found the site name amusing because I am entitled to put MBCS behind my name.) -- RHaworth 01:29, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
