Butterley Engineering

Butterley Engineering are an engineering company based in Ripley, Derbyshire. The company was formed from the Butterley Company which had been established on the site in 1790.
In the early 1960s the company acquired locomotive manufacturer F. C. Hibberd & Co Ltd.
The company has a well established reputation for constructing bridges, overhead cranes and structural steelwork.
A recent major achievement was the design and construction of the Falkirk Wheel[1][2], a spectacular canal boat lift funded by the Millennium Commission. The company also constructed the Spinnaker Tower [1] [3] in Portsmouth.
