Butterfly Valley Road

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Butterfly Valley Road (Chinese: 蝴蝶谷道; pinyin: Húdié Gǔ Dào; Cantonese Yale: wu4 dip6 guk1 dou6) is an alternative road of Castle Peak Road in Lai Chi Kok in Hong Kong. South of Butterfly Valley, the road joins Castle Peak Road, Lai Chi Kok Road, Cheung Sha Wan Road and Kwai Chung Road in its south end and Castle Peak Road and Ching Cheung Road in the north end.

The road was built in 1964 to relieve the heavy traffic of Castle Peak Road, the only connection between Lai Chi Kok and Tsuen Wan, of the section in Lai Chi Kok. The role of the road was later replaced by Kwai Chung Road.

Part of the Route 8 in Hong Kong is constructed above the road to connect Stonecutters Island and Sha Tin.
