[edit] Good Start
Way to go, BusterD. You've got the pump primed up. I've been experimenting off site with dynamic content. I'm getting a handle on it. I think we ought to focus on the ACW News. It's an exciting realtime event-driven process that might make the Portal unique in reporting upcoming enactments and other current events.
The Portal talk:American Civil War/Grand Parade of the States is a great idea too. I have suggested a way to make a two-fortnight cycle. We can make an index page at Portal:American Civil War/States I think.
Collecting all the content is the big work and you've knocked a lot of it out. Lots of work to do, but no reason why we can't make WP:FPORT by March! CQ 18:08, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the encouragement and welcome assistance. I can't say I haven't had a blast playing with the portal, because it's been enlightening and intrinsically engaging (how else would I have stumbled onto Coal torpedo?). I'm starting the admin coaching now though I've been pretty interested in launching this before getting too serious about anything new (I've got at least three important articles in my sandbox just waiting for me to build up gumption).
- I wanted to cast the net wide, so to speak, but one of my wikimentors suggested privately that a portal might best be concise, and that made abundant sense. Like you, I'm also interested in promoting re-enacting events via this portal. I suspect I'll be here for a long while, so we might get used to one another. Thanks again, and if you can show a bit of leadership here, I'll do my best to bring something meaningful to the table. BusterD 00:06, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
