I am a "toddling" member of the Wikipedia experience. I still bump into things but I am eager to learn. Intriuged by the level and variety of discussion and input, I have spent many pleasurable hours in pursuit of information about, among other things, Belgium, where I was born 61 years ago. I have lived in America for 56 years. I am Flemish. I am not Dutch. I was taught by nuns and Jesuits.

Currently, I am finding my way around the many nooks and crannies of Wikipedia. It's always a surprise to find what, and who, is behind some doors. My main focus is, and will continue to be, the Flemish language. I am eager to participate in a dialogue concerning the language that I was taught at an early age (a Flemish dialect from Stekene/Kemseke, near Antwerp)...more than likely it is a language that is slowly dying in its homeland.

"Ik spreek nan oud vlaamse taal. Assek da schrijf is het azo. (sp?) Oud au goed, eh, vriend!"

As is the case with most dialects there is very little written ephemera. Therefore, when its no longer spoken it no longer exists.

Perhaps a personal goal may become a Dead (or Nearly Dead) Language site. Also, promoting and prolonging what ever it is that Wikipedia tries to be, has become important. Maybe its the concept of something living into eternity or maybe its just trying to write a good, clear, concise sentence that I'm after. Whatever it is...I'm havin" fun!

I promise to use my power and insight to not sit back and wait...to listen to the voice that speaks to greatness in myself and in others (everyone and thing)---I promise to remain focussed on my vision rather than my shit...on my goal rather than the obstacles
