Buster Brown (musician)

Buster Brown (born Wayman Glasco, 15 August 1911, Cordele, Georgia-31 January 1976, New York) was an American blues and R&B singer best known for his hit, "Fannie Mae".

In the 1930s and 1940s Brown played harmonica at local clubs and made a few recordings, including "I'm Gonna Make You Happy" in 1943. He moved to New York in 1956, where he was discovered by Fire Records owner Bobby Robinson.

In 1959, he recorded the archaic-sounding blues, "Fannie Mae", whose tough harmonica riffs took it into the U.S. Top 40, and to # 1 on the R&B chart in April 1960. His similar-sounding "Sugar Babe" was his only other R&B hit, but in later years he recorded for Checker Records and for numerous small record labels.
