The company was founded on January 1, 1986 as the result of a merger between Ruteexpressen, Lillesand og Torpdalens Bilruter, Torridalens Bilruter and Vaagsbydgruta and is owned by the holding company TK Brøvig that also owns Vaagsbygdruta and Sørlandsruta.
