Bus trap
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A bus trap is a metal grate, placed over a ditch or depression in the road, whose tines are spaced far enough apart that smaller-diameter-wheeled vehicles fall in between the tines but are still close enough that larger-diameter-wheeled vehicles, such as buses, may pass.
Different versions of this type of barrier exist for restricting access. The tines of the trap run across the path of the road, from left to right; they are not parallel with the road direction , as one might suspect. Vehicles whose tires are not big enough "bottom out" in between the tines, preventing the car from continuing over the obstacle.
