The Bus Transit is a major way of transportation in Guntur City, its suburban and rural regions.

The common city buses for the general public are operated by both private and government. Both are economical and used heavily. But they face major competition from the Auto-Rikshaws as the they are very convenient and effective, though not as economical as buses. Some new initiatives are taken such as New Information Centers, to give some convenience for the passengers with respect to the latest bus-timings [1].

Guntur is the regional head quarters of APSRTC state organization(Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport). It runs city buses that travel throughout the city and the nearby suburban regions. It also runs many buses for long distance travel across the entire state and to some parts of the country. The main central station is located in the north-eastern part of the city.
- Palle Velugu
Palle Velugu is a program that involved a fleet of buses that run from the city to many rural areas of the region and the district of Guntur. It is considered very successful for its reasonable rates covering many routes of the region [2].

There are fleet of buses for many educational institutes that run throughout the region. These are owned and operated independently by the respective schools and institutes, covering not only the city but also the suburban, rural regions and nearby towns.
