[edit] Vandal reporting

Hi there; the place to report persistent vandalism is WP:AIV. Making an article is unlikely to achieve a result.--Anthony.bradbury 16:47, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Oddly, I tried to use Wikipedia:Abuse reports and it dumped the report on a new page. I lost track of it after that. Burzmali 18:43, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

User:203.208.66.95 had only edited once today, so I can't really block them. TimVickers 01:39, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

My bad, I saw a first 4th level warnings while I was reverting that last change.Burzmali 01:42, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE: User:Anweshock

Hello, I was wondering if there there is an official way to report userpages that are created to dodge a notability tag in the main article space. I have been flipping through the untagged images and I have noticed a lot like that. Any thoughts? Burzmali 17:40, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Generally speaking, it is possible to have a bio for an individual on your user page that would no meet the notability guidelines for an article - but if the page is being used as a blog or to host web content, then it may be liable for deletion. In this case, it looks like it is being used to host content about a group and so may violate WP:NOT. In this case you may want to follow the relevant deletion policy. Let me know if you need more help. Cheers TigerShark 18:22, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry

Sorry. I didn't know about uploading images. I'm sorry. I'm a new user. Radical3 23:26, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tan beret

Is there any good reason for a color of beret to have it's own page? Burzmali 02:09, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

You have obviously not read through the article and the "See also" section. If you had, you would understand that it is an important military symbol. Tag removed. Ng.j 07:06, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Kigo and Rongo

Hey, whats wrong with my Kigo and Rongo page?

[edit] Re: June 2007

Hello,

I take it you are referring to my addition of a redirect from stercore tauri to bullshit. I was going to add a line about that rather quaint but not uncommon euphemism in the article on bullshit, but I see that it has already been deleted. Anyway, I will try again, and I hope that you and your recent changes-patrol colleagues are less triggerhappy now. --Thorsen 15:03, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Buscema Wolverine image

Please don't take this one personal, but using interior shots to illustrate an author does not seem to meet the intent of WP:FU. Burzmali 23:17, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

No problem Burzmali and thanks for the fair usage info. If you could be more specific as to how you feel that the fair usage explanation doesn't comply with the Non-Free content guidelines, I'd appreciate it.

--Skyelarke 23:38, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

The non-free use guidelines specify that:
The use of low-resolution images of a single panel from a comic strip or an interior page of a comic book to illustrate:
  • the scene or storyline depicted, or
  • the copyrighted character(s) or group(s) depicted on the excerpted panel in question;
Since the scan of the comic isn't being used to illustrate the Wolverine in any sense, it seems that they wouldn't be in the scope of non-free use. Burzmali 23:49, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply - good points raised - I do have a few counter-points to raise but I was wondering if we could put this on the backburner for a bit - it's because the article is currently locked due to a dispute I'm having with another editor (image use questions among other things - althought the Wolverine image wasn't in dispute) - As the situation is kind of complicated, involving lots of points of detail, it would help if you could hold off from deleting the image for the time being, until the dispute is resolved.

Well Michael Curran would you believe it my brother is also a Michael Curran, he is 37 though. Myself is John, or often Johnny or Rubber. Your from Boston so you definitely must have Irish roots like us. Irish Famine emigrants amongst your ancestors? Am I right? Curran1980 22:28, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, I can trace 15 of 16 great-great grandparents back to Ireland, and the last one is more of a question mark. I've got a few from every single significant Irish immigration wave to the US, including the Irish Famine, though the largest segment ~25% emigrated in the early twentieth century. My father and grandfather are Johns, but then my family has always had a thing for good ol' Irish names. Burzmali 23:33, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Quality Certification

I saw that you are a Quality Engineer. Have you by chance taken any of American Society for Quality certification exams (CQA, CQM, CQE, etc.)? I ask this because I am planning on taking the CQA on December 1 of this year. Please advise. Chris 20:12, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Thank you. Chris 20:16, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
    • This is a follow-up message from earlier this year. I just wanted to let you know that I passed the CQA test that I took on December 1, 2007. Chris (talk) 12:55, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

        • I have updated my ASQ profile to mention that I am a Wikipedia editor earlier this morning. Chris (talk) 13:41, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
          • I contacted ASQ earlier today in regards to see if I can earn my retention units from Wikipedia articles regarding quality. I should have some information on this from them sometime tomorrow. Chris (talk) 14:29, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
            • I received a reply from ASQ earlier today. They informed me that they will have the certification board review this proposal later this year in order for retention units to be done. Whethter this gets approves is unknown right now. Chris (talk) 15:30, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD for Reenactor Entertainment

Chill out. I'm not attempting to validate the award claims, which may indeed be dubious. I'm just saying that the company does/did exist, and they did indeed put out a legit product or two. Or did you miss the part where I agreed that the article should be deleted? --Finngall talk 07:51, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

For the record, I bought it when it was relatively new at the store of a major software chain. Trust me, as a card-carrying deletionist I'm not in the habit of defending articles, and I'm definitely not doing so here, but I do believe in being fair about the facts when someone gets them wrong. That's all. Peace. --Finngall talk 20:33, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ModelSim

Modelsim is not notable??? just because you have never heard of it doesn't mean that it doesn't heavily influence your life... if you consider that at least 30% of the electronics in your home have have been made using Modelsim then you might realize that you were wrong to delete this page....Modelsim is made by one the big three EDA companies: Cadence Design Systems, Mentor Graphics, and Synopsys. For instance, the PowerPC was designed using Modelsim for example...as were many well known and important IC chips....many Intel chips were designed using Modelsim for example... the list of companies that use this tool is too long to name...how can you say its not notable?

[1] [2] etc...etc....

Look here: [3]

Modelsim is a signoff simulator for many IC manufacturers... that means they won't build the chips of other companies without using modelsim to verify them...

you haven't heard of it... but that doesn't mean that its not important... you are not an IC design engineer... you wouldn't know...

please undelete this page... so that i can continue work on it... you did not give proper notice.... you deleted without a proper vote....

Failed to claim it was remarkable. Burzmali (talk) 04:04, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Possible set up for a Wikiproject

I want your thoughts on this. You up for setting for a project dealing with quality and quality-related issues? Let's see if anyone else is interested. Chris (talk) 15:09, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Is the quality idea part of another project? If so, what? I was not aware that it was under another project. Chris (talk) 20:45, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
I think it does need to go into the sciences project, but it is an interdisciplinary type project similar to that of the library and information sciences and I think it should be its own separate project as a result cince it covers basic quality such as statistics, auditing, management, and engineering; and applied quality like food, drug, and cosmetic; aerospace, computers, teams, government, and education. Let's start work on better formulaing our ideas and put up a proposal to create this project after the New Year with both it and Christmas close by. Merry Christmas! Chris (talk) 02:31, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ron Paul

Ron Paul never had anything to do with the editorial group that published the newsletter (or newsletters) that supposedly carried the comments in question, and wasn’t even aware of them. Ron Paul immediately disavowed the newsletter article as soon as it came out. The staffer responsible was immediately fired. “They were never my words, but I had some moral responsibility for them . . . I actually really wanted to try to explain that it doesn’t come from me directly, but the campaign aides said that’s too confusing. ‘It appeared in your letter and your name was on that letter and therefore you have to live with it.’”

In Ron Paul’s article, “Government and Racism”, April 16, 2007 which states the following: “Bigotry at its essence is a sin of the heart, and we can’t change people’s hearts by passing more laws and regulations. In fact it is the federal government more than anything else that divides us along race, class, religion, and gender lines. Government, through taxes, restrictive regulations, corporate subsidies, racial set-asides, and welfare programs, plays far too large a role in determining who succeeds and who fails in our society. This government “benevolence” crowds out genuine goodwill between men by institutionalizing group thinking, thus making each group suspicious that others are receiving more of the government loot. This leads to resentment and hostility between us. The political left argues that stringent federal laws are needed to combat racism, even as they advocate incredibly divisive collectivist policies. Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than individuals. Racists believe that all individuals who share superficial physical characteristics are alike: as collectivists, racists think only in terms or groups. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called “diversity” actually perpetuate racism. Their obsession with racial group identity is inherently racist. The true antidote to racism is liberty. Liberty means having a limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of individual rights rather than group claims. Liberty means free-market capitalism, which rewards individual achievement and competence, not skin color, gender, or ethnicity.”

Anybody who claims that Ron Paul made the comments in question is deliberately mis-stating what occurred to make political points. It is a measure of (his opponents) desperation that they are dredging this up again. Anybody who reads all that he has written – and there’s lots of it, could see that right away. Best to you.--Duchamps_comb 00:48, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

The article referenced is basically just a screed against homosexuality in the media, that mentions Bianca Montgomery as an example. I didn't think that the screed or the writer was notable in reference to the article's subject. Burzmali (talk) 22:44, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
