Bury Market

Bury Market is a famous retail market located in Bury in the Greater Manchester county. It consists of a large Market Hall, with extensive stalls outside, selling fruit, flowers, clothing and hardware. There is a new Fish and Meat market hall, constructed in the 1990s, on the site of a former National Westminster Bank. The market is operative on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and attracts visitors from miles around. It is famed for its Black Pudding stalls.

The Market calls itself 'World Famous' and 'Really Huge'; both descriptions are somewhat subjective.

A Bury family on holiday in Blackpool booked onto a Magical Mystery Tour with a local coach firm and found themselves back on Bury market ! Whether this anecdote is actually true or not is difficult to prove. However, in the past year coach companies around the country have organised over 1000 coach trips to Bury Market for their customers who like to shop and look out for a bargain. Regular trips arrive from as far away as Birmingham, Carlisle, Durham, North Yorkshire, and Wales.
