Emperor Buru (부루 임금) or Buru Dangun (부루 단군) (r. 2240 BC - 2183 BC) was the mythical second Emperor of Gojoseon. According to 'Hwandan Gogi', Buru was the one, on the order of his father, to meet and teach Yu, first King of Xia Dynasty of China, on the control of water.

[edit] Background

According to legend, Buru Dangun was the eldest son of Dangun Wanggeom, and was also the Crown Prince of Gojoseon under the rule of his father. Buru Dangun was the older brother to Gojoseon princes Buyeo and Bu-oo, both of whom would later conquer territory to become regional kings under their brother's reign.

[edit] Reign

Under Buru Dangun, Jinjoseon, the central state of Gojoseon, was put under more organization and royal authority was strengthened.

It is recorded that on the death of Emperor Buru, solar eclipse extinguished the light for many hours, as if in mourning for his death.
