Burton Township is located in Adams County, Illinois. The population was 843 at the 2000 census.

Burton Township covers an area of 38.07 square miles and contains the unincorporated hamlets of Adams and Burton. According to the USGS, it contains five cemeteries: Burton, Independence, Kimmons, Newton and Tandy.

The stream of Tournear Creek runs through this township.
