Burpengary is a suburb 35 kilometres north of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. Its Local Government Area is the Moreton Bay Regional Council.
The name comes from Burpen-gar, meaning the place of the green wattle tree. This tree, sometimes also called the early black wattle, grows in open forest country.[1]
Burpengary is one of Moreton Bay region's fastest growing residential areas.[2]Retailers in Burpengary include ALDI and Woolworths.

Burpengary has three primary schools: Burpengary State School, St Eugene College and Burpengary Meadows State School. In 2008, St Eugene College will commence high school intakes for year 8 students.
