Burlesque is the first full-length album by Bellowhead. To describe Burlesque as a folk music is deceptive, as it sounds more like raucous circus music than Peter, Paul and Mary. The sound is so complex that you cannot tell whether it is wildly improvised or rehearsed. Jon Boden's vocals are both intense and anxious. Three of the tracks are bouncy instrumentals, written by the mainstay of the group, Spiers and Boden.
