Burgh Heath (pronounced burruh heath) is a residential area of the borough of Reigate and Banstead in Surrey, England. It is located on the A217 between Banstead and Tadworth. A neighbouring village is Nork. The busy dual carriageway has meant that today there are two separate areas of housing; the larger off Canons Lane to the east of the A217, and behind the parade of shops, and the other to the west, close to the ponds and known as The Green. The census area Kingswood with Burgh Heath has a population of 6,219.[1]

Burgh Heath is dominated by the presence of a large Shell petrol station, at the junction of the A240 and the A217. There is a large ASDA store and Toyota's UK headquarters are located in the north of the area at Great Burgh. There is a parade of shops along the A217, of small independent retailers and several takeaway restaurants. However, the majority of residents in the area are commuters out of the area.

[edit] Open areas

The residential area is bordered to the south by the Burgh Heath itself, one of four parts of Banstead Commons, under the jurisdiction of the Banstead Commons Conservators. It is bordered east and north by farmland leading to Banstead Woods, under jurisdiction of local authority Reigate and Banstead.
