Burger Boat Company

The Burger Boat Company, of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is the builder of custom-designed, hand-built motor yachts. Prices of new Burger Yachts range from $3.5 million to over $10 million.[citation needed] The company is notable for its innovation, longevity, and international distribution. [1]
Burger Boat was founded in 1863. It produced its first welded steel yacht in 1938 and began using welded aluminum in 1952. There are approximately 250 Burgers Yachts in service worldwide out of a total production of under 500 built in the company’s history. [2]
David Ross, a Chicago entrepreneur acquired the bankrupt company in 1993. It is now headed by Jim Ruffolo. About 150 employees build an average of three boats a year.[3]
