Bureau of Colored Troops
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bureau of Colored Troops was created by the United States War Department in January 1863, during the Civil War, to handle personnel matters, rations, pay, and other things relating to African-American soldiers. Which means that any information regarding any African Americans during the Civil War was to be dealt with by the people of the bureau and only them because they would not accept African Americans anywhere else during that time.
