Bumface (ISBN 9780140387971) is a children's novel written by Morris Gleitzman for readers age 9-12. The main character is Angus, who daydreams about being a pirate named Bumface.
Angus only wanted to be Bumface who was a pirate. This pirate Bumface would be brave and bold, wild and free, like the same pirate in the stories he tells his younger brother and sister.
Instead Angus is just plain tired from having to change Imogen's nappies and scraping food off the walls but his food not his mother who is an actress. Neither his father and stepfathers who don't have time to look after their own children. However, Angus's father gets money for leaving Angus an adult's job so basically he doesn't earn the money in any way but in the end, Angus gets his own back.
Angus doesn't want to be mum's Mr Dependable or dad's Mr Reliable he just wants to be Angus. The twist in the story for Angus is when his mother switches jobs and has longer hours to work.
Morris Gleitzman wrote many other books other than Bumface.
