Bumbeşti-Jiu is a town in Gorj County, western Wallachia, Romania, on the river Jiu with a population of 10,596 (2004 census). In this town one can find the Lainici Monastery unique in the world because the new building is situated on the old building. Another place to visit is the Vişina Monastery built in 1418 or the "Village Museum".
