- Jaap-Derk Buma, a Dutch field hockey player
- Sybrand van Haersma Buma, a CDA politician and member of parliament since 2002
- a pumping station of the Noordoostpolder in the Netherlands, named after a politician involved in the planning of the Zuiderzee works
- the airfield at Kufra in Libya, built by Italians in the mid-1930s along with the fort of El Tag. It has fallen into disrepair since World War II although is still serviceable by smaller and hardy aircraft. [1]
