I was under the impression that this disease was caused by autoantibodies directed against hemidesmosomes, thus the linear immunostaining observed at the epithelial basement membrane. Are we sure that collagen XVII is involved?
- Collagen XVII is a component of hemidesmosomes. I will edit to clarify. Jprawn 20:44, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
