[edit] Bulldog teams

Although nearly all the teams with Bulldog mascots are also called Bulldogs, I'll concede that the rugby team belongs here because they are known as just Bulldogs, rather than the "[Something] Bulldogs". But List of Bulldog mascots was split from the disambiguation page because the list is so long, and my concern is that the inclusion of the rugby side will be seen as an open door for all those other Bulldog teams to come creeping back in. I'd just like to see if there is a consensus that, while the rugby team (and perhaps any other team that goes by Bulldogs alone) belongs here, the other teams should be kept off this page and differentiated in the mascots list article.--ShelfSkewed Talk 17:08, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

I understand your point, however the team is known as the Bulldogs, not the (Canterbury) Bulldogs or the (Sydney) Bulldogs. It is their sole name, not an additional emblem to a town or city.Londo06 17:16, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
As I said, I'm in agreement with you on that. I was looking for a further consensus that other Bulldog teams ought to be kept in the mascots article. I'm anticipating the occasions when those other Bulldog teams are re-added, and I (or another editor) remove them, and the editor who added them says "But what about the rugby team?" Then we can point that editor to this discussion of the issue and the rationale for including the rugby side but not other teams. On the other hand, if the consenus is different--that is, that all those Bulldogs should come back here--then I'll leave them alone when they do. --ShelfSkewed Talk 17:36, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Agreed, a team such as the Batley Bulldogs would probably be best on the other page as their claim would be on their emblem.Londo06 17:53, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
