[edit] Why Bulgari is spelled BVLGARI?

I think this is a very puzzling fact for many people, and from my short search on the internet, I couldn't find an answer. It would be really nice, if someone who knows the reason would add a paragraph regarding the spelling of BVLGARI.

[edit] BVLGARI = BULGARI

The letter "V" in BVLGARI actually represents a letter "U".

I think the word Bulgari was written that way more out of decorative purposes - I suppose, it's just like how Hoobastank displays their band name as "h∞bastank"; the infinity symbol doesn't really mean anything, it only represents the double O's in the word.

In Ancient Roman times, the letter "V" also stood for "U". For explanation, read Wiki articles:

I know this is a poor reference but if you've seen the movie Gladiator (starring Russell Crowe), there's a scene where Crowe's character's name, Maximus Decimus Meridius, was written in the movie as MAXIMVS DECIMVS MERIDIVS (although in ancient Roman times, the correct order his name would have been addressed should have been Decimus Meridius Maximus).
