Bullet to Beijing

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bullet to Beijing is a 1995 made for television film that continues the adventures of Harry Palmer ( again portrayed by Michael Caine) who appeared in the 1960's theatrical films The Ipcress File, Funeral in Berlin and Billion Dollar Brain.Though the character is the same that appeared in those films, the name Harry Palmer was not a creation of those books author Len Deighton. The film Bullet to Beijing is not associated with Deighton at all. The film finds Harry Palmer made redundant from MI-6 and then hired to do a job in Saint Peterburg. Before leaving he has a tryst with his old girlfriend Jean Courtney from The Ipcress File played again by Sue Lloyd. Once in Russia, he meets a variety of characters who may or may not be on his side. The film culminates in a long train ride to Beijing with many adventures along the way.

Bullet to Beijing was followed by a back-to-back filmed sequel Midnight in Saint Peterburg.
