Bulgarian People's Union

The Bulgarian People's Union (Balgarski Naroden Sajuz) is an electoral alliance (center-right) in Bulgaria. At the last legislative elections, 25 June 2005, it won 5.7 % of the popular vote and 13 out of 240 seats. The Union is formed by the Bulgarian Agrarian People's Union-People's Union (Balgarski Zemedelski Naroden Sajuz-Naroden Sajuz), the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization - Bulgarian National Movement (Vatreshna Makedonska Revolyucionna Organizaciya-Balgarsko Nacionalno Dvizhenie) and the Union of Free Democrats (Sajuz na svobodnite demokrati).
The last months (2006) several corruption scandals were connected to the leader of BPU - the former mayor of capital city of Sofia - Stefan Sofiansky.
The last political surveys (March'2006) show the serious decreasing of the people support for BPU. Less than only 2% of the political support moves today this party to a position behind BSP (socialists / communists party), ATAKA (nationalists party), NDSV (Simeon II former king party) and UDF.
