Bulb Records is a record label that was started in mid 1992 under the tutelage of Peter Larson (now of the 2 piece metal rock band 25 Suaves), and James Magas (now known simply as Magas). The label was originally a vehicle for putting out records by local Michigan avant-garde musical acts, but expanded later to become well known and influential in the world of new music. Although the label has been inactive for some time, many now well known groups can trace their beginnings to the BULB label or can say that they have been influenced by the label in some way. To order Bulb items, order through their distributor, Surefire Distribution.

In 2006, a record under the name Steev Mike had been discovered. Steev Mike is supposedly the other name Andrew W.K. has gone under, and Steev Mike has even been thought to be the creator of Andrew W.K. It had a Bulb Records label on it, and had been dated 1992. The record was first found on eBay, in which the auction states the records (the seller had 25) were found at a garage sale in Ann Arbor (Where Bulb Records was founded, and Andrew lived for much of his childhood and all of his teen years). A little over a month after, a UK record shop, Volcanic Tongue, was selling copies of the record in their online store. That website did not have a lot of copies in stock, and about a week after they listed it for sale, they were out, and took the page down. The tracks on the record are the same as Bulb band Couch (a band made up of the label's founders)'s first 7", except for the last track, which is Couch's track Old Man from a later release,. On the back of the Steev Mike record, Andrew W.K.'s father, James Krier, is named. It has been said that James help fund Bulb early on, but this is not true according to Pete Larson, who says they met well after Bulb was formed. It is suspected that someone close to Andrew made the record, most likely someone that lived in Michigan at the time, and was close to the scene.
