Bulawayo Polytechnic College

Bulawayo Polytechnic College is an academic institution in Zimbabwe.
The college provides a number of Higher education qualifications. It has been attempting to become a University College but fell out of favour in preference to the establishment of the National University of Science and Technology.It has played host to exchange students from many countries including the United States of America and western Europe.
The National University of Science and Technology used Bulawayo Polytechnic facilities to get started. The institution has been in Bulawayo since 1975.
It has two campuses in Bulawayo and provides technical education for the country.
The institution boasts of famous students such as Mr Nkululeko Sibanda, who, although expelled from the College, became the President of the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) becoming the first and only person to lead ZINASU without being a University student. During his term of office ZINASU won the International Student Peace Prize in Norway.Sibanda is currently in London for studies.The institution boast of another student Blessing Vava,Students Union President 2006-7,who was named the most examplary student in 2006.The militant student leader led protests against high tuition fees and students rights resulting in him being arrested on numerous occassions by the law enforcement agents in Zimbabwe.He was denied registration to coimplete his studies as a result. He is currently the spokesman for Zimbabwe National Students Union.
