Buisine

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Buisine was a type of straight Medieval Trumpet usually made of metal. It had a very long and slender body, usually one to two meters in length (some were reported to have been at least six feet in length) that tapered toward the end into a slightly flared bell. It made its first documented appearance in Europe around 1200 AD, but its origins are most likely much earlier than that. It is commonly seen in paintings being played by Angels and often also bear the banner of a nobleman.
